Eric is the co-founder of OpenSource Connections, where he guides clients in building effective search teams and enhancing their search maturity through project leadership and trusted advisory. As a member of the OpenSearch Technical Steering Committee, Eric plays a pivotal role in shaping the direction of the OpenSearch community in the new AI centric world. He is also an active maintainer for the OpenSearch Search Relevance and Documentation projects and has recently been recognized as an OpenSearch Ambassador.

With two decades of experience in the open source world, Eric has contributed as a developer, committer, and speaker. He is a member of the Apache Software Foundation and is passionate about fostering knowledge sharing within the community—evident from his co-authorship of the first book on Apache Solr to his involvement in the Haystack Conference series.

The mission of OpenSource Connections to empower search teams aligns with Eric's belief in the open source software movement and the importance of education in technology ownership.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Eric enjoys hands-on projects, including building furniture. His next endeavor is crafting a reproduction Danish modern couch using only hand tools!
